Truvity has officially joined the WE BUILD Payments Interest Group, an open initiative within the WE BUILD Consortium. As the largest second-wave Large-Scale Pilot (LSP) for the European Digital Identity Wallet (EUDIW), the WE BUILD framework encompasses more than 200 organizations across 27 countries co-funded by the EU’s Digital Europe program.
The focus of this interest group is entirely operational: defining and refining the exact role of digital wallets within the broader payments ecosystem.
For several years, discussions around the EUDI Wallet have centered on basic identity verification – how citizens store digital IDs or access public services. While these foundational use cases are vital, they represent only the first wave of adoption.
The next frontier for the EUDI Wallet is entirely operational: payments.
The EUDI Wallet is far more than a passive repository for digital IDs; it is a core engine for securing and executing transactions. For banks and Payment Service Providers (PSPs), the technical intersection between payment rails and verifiable credentials changes the fundamentals of daily financial operations – from streamlining Strong Customer Authentication (SCA/SUA) to running instant, cross-border verifications.
While identity is the entry point for compliance, payments represent Truvity's core B2B use case. Our solution, the EUDIW Connector, acts as a secure, developer-friendly gateway that links a bank’s internal IT landscape – including core banking platforms, CRMs, and compliance software – with the complex external wallet ecosystem. Operating as a critical infrastructure layer, the Connector enables banks and PSPs to participate as relying parties by handling the technical heavy lifting:
Participation within the WE BUILD ecosystem ensures that Truvity’s technology is continuously synchronized with the live payment use cases being piloted across the Union right now. This active involvement allows us to bridge the gap from experimental pilot environments to secure, production-grade deployments for financial institutions that need to be ready for the upcoming shift in infrastructure.
True interoperability cannot be engineered in isolation. Our engagement with the WE BUILD Payments Interest Group is part of a broader, sustained commitment to shaping Europe's digital financial architecture.
This initiative marks the third major EU-level project we are actively contributing to, building directly on our ongoing work within the German Sandbox initiatives and our hands-on testing at the ETSI EAA Plugtests.
This continuous process of testing, refining, and building ensures that our infrastructure layer reflects the absolute truth of European technical standards and remains robust and ready to transform compliance obligations into a true competitive advantage.
We will share the progress as we go, but for now, you can check our demo or request more information from our team here!
Identity, Trust and everything in between.
