Expansion of trust services in eIDAS 2.0

Expansion of trust services is a critical aspect of eIDAS 2.0. The original eIDAS encompassed elements like electronic signatures, time stamps, and seals. For instance, where the original eIDAS was more confined to public sector services, eIDAS 2.0 clearly recognises the need for trusted digital identification in the private sector, as well.

We already mentioned that the scope of services covered is increasing in the 2.0 version, and that a digital wallet is in the works. Another important difference with the original eIDAS is that it didn’t take the future of developments in AI into account. eIDAS 2.0 plans to align with all current technological advancements.
